Dolly Parton Songs Included
This is a Netflix world and we are just living in it. On December 7, you will see Jennifer Aniston and Danielle MacDonald in Dumplin’. Jennifer is a former beauty queen and now runs the local beauty pageant. Her daughter, Will, is overweight but begins a protest by entering the contest. Based on a book accused of an ending that is too “Disney Channel optimistic, ” this one looks like fun.
What comes to mind when you hear Alfred Hitchcock?
In 1940, Rebecca won an Oscar for Best Picture for Mr. Hitchcock. That romantic thriller starred Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine. The Netflix remake will star slightly less accomplished actors Armie Hammer and Lily James. It’s never easy being wife number 2, but especially when the house is haunted by wife number one. This will be a tough act to follow in more ways than one.
Finally, something that Tom Cruise can’t do!
Tom Cruise and I are both 5’7″. Much as we might like, neither of us can be Jack Reacher who stands 6’5″. Netflix gets it! “I really enjoyed working with Cruise. He’s a really, really nice guy. We had a lot of fun,” author Lee Child told BBC Radio Manchester. “But ultimately the readers are right. The size of Reacher is really, really important and it’s a big component of who he is. The idea is that when Reacher walks into a room, you’re all a little nervous just for that first minute. And Cruise, for all his talent, didn’t have that physicality.” So now we will have a TV series and Child wants YOU to help pick the new Reacher. The Rock? Chris Hemsworth? Alexander Skarsgaard? Armie Hammer?
James Bond– Thumbs Down! Simon Templar– Thumbs Up!
In the 1960’s, before must-see TV, Avengers and The Saint were required viewing. Played by Roger Moore, Simon Templar (The Saint) was the slippery “criminal” who helped others by means usually outside the law. Now Paramount wants to revive the franchise and wants Chris Pratt to be Templar. If he has the time, he has the right charm and deviousness to pull it off. He certainly seems a much better fit than failed 1996 attempt with Val Kilmer.
Never Grow Old
As a child, June creates Wonder Park, a theme park run by animals, in her imagination. Who else but a kid would have a porcupine be the safety officer? Now June is grown and the theme park is run down. Transported back, June must find her inner kid and save the park. Make a date with your “kid” on April 8. 2019.
I love quirky English stories . . .
In a true story, a young girl and her brother dream of being in the WWE. In Fighting With My Family, the girl makes it, but her brother doesn’t. Her chance includes a meeting with WWE’s biggest star, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. With Lena Heady and Vince Vaughn, the trailer is crazy. I am looking forward to February 14, 2019 and I don’t even like the WWE.
And I end with Joni Mitchell . . .
The teaser from Toy Story 4 yields very little, but I loved it anyway. You just can’t stop watching the characters float by to the tune of Both Sides, Now. Trust me, take a moment and relax. You will thank me.
